What Guests Think

Here are some of the lovely comments left in our guest book...

  • A fantastically well equipped little hideaway in a beautiful corner of the country.  Fabulous garden - thankyou so much for sharing it.  Special thanks to Tom for showing Archie around!  Hope to come again soon!

  • Thankyou for letting us stay at Overstrand, we had a lovely time.  Little Vicky (6 months) enjoyed her first trip to the beach and even got her feet wet.  Sheringham and Cromer were lovely, as was windy Hunstanton.

  • We had a lovely stay in Overstrand, perfect for relaxing, even better, the sun shone for us everyday!  Highlights were Sheringham Park, a wander around the village and beach at Overstrand.  Ice cream at Ronaldo's and an AMAZING sausage roll from 'Back to the Garden' just past Holt.  Thankyou!

  • Thankyou for making us feel so welcome at Overstrand and for looking after us so well with all the little extras.  We have had a lovely week and are quite smitten with the rugged Norfolk coastline and your beautiful countryside setting - there's definitely a return visit on the agenda if you'll have us!!

  • On a weekend that a prince married a princess we came to this wonderful place - fit for little princesses!  Our girls had a lovely time with Daisy, Tom and Libby (especially being carried around in the red trailer by strong Tom) and Daisy has a huge crush on Big Daisy!  We love the quiet, the winding lanes, blistering winds on endless beaches and the view from the kitchen window!  Thankyou!

  • We have had a really wonderful break - thankyou!  The cottage has been great - so useful to have everything already here.  Eden has really enjoyed her first trip to Norfolk (and her first taste of crab!)  We had a fab afternoon in the gardens at Blickling - the bluebells are beautiful - and also enjoyed Holt and the country park.  We had a really nice meal at The King's Head - good selection of toys to keep little ones entertained and a great garden.  We will definitely be returning.  Best wishes,

  • Thankyou for a wonderfully relaxing break and especially to Daisy, Tom and Libby for playing so well with our two girls and joining in a fun Easter egg hunt in your lovely garden.  We wish you all the best for The Good Life! With thanks.

  • We've had a very relaxing week with great weather.  Recommend Cley and surrounding countryside and coast.  Bewilderwood is good but expensive.  Good cake at Byfords in Holt.  Beaches are all lovely.  Sheringham Country Park is lovely and staff really nice.  Great fish and chips - the best we've had! in Sheringham.  Thankyou to Daisy, Tom and Libby for playing with our children every morning and every night!  Will certainly recommend  Barn House and the wide, blue skies of Norfolk.

  • We had a wonderful stay - even though we were only here for 2 nights we all feel much more relaxed and refreshed!  A very comfy bed and it is so quiet and serene here!  Megan loved the swing outside and Jac was very grateful for the toys.  So lovely to have all the equipment (steriliser, travel cot, utensils) already here - mind you our car was still full!  We were very lucky with glorious sunshine - Blakeney was stunning and we gorged on crab from Sheringham yesterday.  You are very lucky to live here!  We will definitely be back!  Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • What can we say?  What a wonderful wonderful week...travelling with a dog and 8 month old is never plain sailing but we felt so at home in this beautiful cottage with everything we could possibly want - and more!  The weather has been just glorious - more like July than March and have found sooo much to do for dog and child alike!  Holkham and Sheringham Park both provided us with fabulous days of picnics and walks and the Victoria at Holkham was very dog friendly in the garden.  A big thankyou to our wonderful hosts...you will be highly recommended back in Bath!  Very best wishes.

  • We've had a great stay in Overstrand - exactly what we needed.  Beautiful surroundings and the sun came out for us.  You've done a great job here and its so baby friendly.  George has had a great time with all the toys here and we're glad we didn't need to pack the car even more!  It's the first time we've been to Norfolk and we'll definitely be back - it makes you think twice (or 3 or 4 times) about bringing kids up in London!  Will recommend to all my mummy friends!

  • A wonderful homely cottage in lovely surroundings!  Despite awful weather, we still had a fab time!  Dinosaur adventure in Norwich was great fun - our 4 year old son loved it!  Thankyou very much - so great not having to bring everything for the children as it's all here!  Will be recommending it to all my friends with little ones.

  • Thankyou so much for providing such a wonderful home away from home - in fact a home with many benefits including the HUGE garden.  We really enjoyed our stay here, would recommend it to our friends and hope to come back again. Kind regards.

  • Thank you for a very enjoyable stay: the barn is very well equipped and our children enjoyed all the super toys and DVDs. We had great fun at Holkham beach (even managed to build a sandcastle in Feb).  Yummy meals at the King's Head and at The Globe Inn.  Blissful spot here. Thank you.

  • Marvellous break between Xmas and New Year with family. Cottage has everything you need and more. I would and will recommend cottage to people. Of particular note was the local guide book. We were the only visitors at Dinosaur Land, a worthwhile day out for men who have not grown up yet.

  • Thank you, Cate and Fergus, for a BRILLIANT stay! Couldn't have been nicer - you made us feel so at home and so welcome.  Thankyou for everything you have done for us this week. Thank you too for all the other kindnesses (Kate loves her hot water bottle!) - we really felt that you put yourself out to make out stay a good one and for that we are extremely grateful. We've also been inspired by your beautiful family and your creativity which is obvious from the lovely way you've designed the cottages to the Christmas-card making conveyor belt!  We are returning to London very rested and we will miss out time in this beautiful part of the world and, in particular, Overstrand Cottage. We will be highly recommending you and 'The Barnhouse' to our friends. With much love.

  • A lovely little house in a gorgeous setting and everything so thoughtful for young children. We settled so quickly with our year old twins and had a great time. We hope to be back soon! Thank you Cate and family.

  • I love your cottages.

  • Such a wonderful place to have a holiday - extremely restful. Wonderfully equipped. Our 3 year old daughter loved her bedroom - great selection of books, games and DVDs. Fergus and Cate are perfect hosts and Daisy, Tom and Libby are delightful. We hope we can return soon. Many thanks.

  • The Barn House is a magical place. We have had a wonderful time here, it’s beautiful, the house is perfect. Fantastic beaches, particularly West Runton, shallow water for children and brilliant rock pools to find little treasures. This is the best holiday house we have ever stayed in. Great films for grown-ups and children, games, very comfortable. But most of all Cate, Fergus, Daisy, Tom and Libby make this a truly special place with love laughter and tip top style. Thank you.

  • I just loved coming to this lovely “little house”. Great sleep, quietness, pillow, mattress, view and all that comes with this perfect spot and accommodation! It is a wonderful environment full of kindness and friendliness provided by Cate, Fergus, Daisy, Tom and gorgeous Libby! Enjoy it! Wonderful people and wonderful family!

  • This is our second visit to The Barn House and to Norfolk in the last two months. We love it here! The barn conversion is perfect for us and our little 4 year old daughter. Comfortable and cosy, peaceful and bright. There is so much to see and do in this area, we envisage returning again and again! An added bonus is the warm and friendly welcome Cate, Fergus and their 3 lovely children provide you with - don’t worry if you forgot to bring the milk, there is always bread, milk and honey left for you to enjoy. And the most wonderful Norfolk handmade soap in case you forgot to bring your own!
